The story behind FIYA:

For as long as I can remember, my dad has had the same nickname.

Years ago, I asked him where the name came from and he told me that when he was in his 20s, growing up in Nigeria, he would take off across town and through the countryside on his motorcycle. Everyone knew him and his bike, and that he was a bit of a daredevil.

So, whenever kids saw him driving by, they would shout: "FIRE! FIRE! FIRE!", to egg him on to go faster. And the name stuck.

I love hearing stories about my dad in his younger years because it reminds me of where I get my wild spirit from. He wasn't afraid to take a chance, have an adventure, and be a little bit outside of the box. He's the original FIYA of our family.
